Stitch 2008 / MacStitch 2008
Problem:
Sample Motifs in V4.4 are
duplicated
Problem:
Saving
a Motif saves the last thing copied, not the current area
selected.
Cause:
Bug in 'Save a Motif'
Solution: P
lease use COPY before saving a motif.
Incorrect
Motifs and this problem will be corrected in build 4.5, due
in May
X-Stitch Studio (and Simplicity)
Problem:
Screen
does not draw properly: grid is missing or blocks do not
display.
Cause:
Out
of date version of the file XSE32.DLL
Solution:
Search
for and delete or rename all copies of XSE32.DLL on your
machine, then run this updater
software to correct it.
Problem:
Program
asks for Ursa Software font every time it starts
Cause:
Font
not registered properly
Solution:
Search
for URSA.TTF file on your computer, and drag it into the FONTS
folder in Windows, or use the FONTS item in Control Panel to
add it to your list, or run this updater
to install it.
Problem:
File Open/Save dialogs do not display or preview
properly
Cause:
Incompatible DLL on system
Solution:
Open the edit/preferences dialog. Go to
the
General tab. Select a different style of file dialog from the
3 alternatives.
Problem:
Help
does not work properly on some machines. (esp
Vista)
Cause:
Changes
to the help system in Windows
Solution:
Instead
of using the menu, press F1 instead. Note that in Vista, the
help program that Windows uses to display help has been
removed completely. You can either add the help program
back to Windows using this
link,
or use the MANUAL.PDF file we have also provided, which
contains the same text but as a PDF file.
Note:
In the currently shipping version of Studio, the installer and
help file have been re-written and now work fine
in Vista. Please
email us (with your version number) if you are a registered
user and wish to update your copy.
MacStitch 3.x
Problem:
Unhandled
Exception when you try to run the program
Cause:
Incorrectly
installed
Solution:
If
you have used the DMG package to get your copy of MacStitch,
it mounts as a new folder. The folder is only large enough to
hold the files we need to ship. You need to copy all the files
from the mounted folder into a new folder of your own before
you begin work.
Problem:
Symbols
do not appear
Cause:
Font
not registered properly
Solution:
Copy
the file called Ursa Software from the MacStitch folder, into
any one of your FONTS folders.
Note:
MacStitch 2008 no longer requires a font, and is not subject
to this issue.
Problem:
Alarming
error message when installing font under OSX
Leopard
Cause:
Changes
to the font checks in Leopard.
Solution:
The
Ursa Software font is only for use with MacStitch, and only
has definitions for those letters we use for symbols. Because
the remainder of the font is ‘empty’, OSX warns you that the
font is damaged and may eat your children. :)
Please
do not worry — the font will work fine. However, a version
that produces no validation error can be downloaded
here.
Note:
MacStitch 2008 no longer requires a font, and is not subject
to this issue.
