Ursa
Software was founded in 1992, as a family business, producing
X-Stitch software for the Commodore
Amiga,
Atari
ST, and
DOS-based
PCs.
Later,
we expanded into Windows,
with the release of X-Stitch
Master Elite.
The
advent of Windows 95 and the arrival of 32bit Windows required
a rethink, and we developed X-Stitch
Studio as
our 32bit solution, allowing us to add many features that had
been almost impossible to achieve before.
When
Windows Me arrived, 'Elite' was no longer viable, and we
produced a cut-down version of Studio called 'Stitch
Simplicity' to
provide a budget entry to the marketplace in its
stead.
(Stitch
Simplicity has recently been repackaged as 'Cross
Stitch Made Simple'
following the sale of a large number of unauthorized copies of
an early version of Simplicity via the web.)
With
the arrival and clear popularity of the iMac (especially in
the U.S.A) we took the step of developing a new Mac program
for the Apple market, called MacStitch.
Now,
in 2008, we release our multi-platform program, containing the
best of both Studio and MacStitch.
Stitch
2008 and
MacStitch
2008 .. the same program, whether you are using Windows or
Mac!
We
remain proud of our 'small company' basis, because this allows
us to keep in touch with our customers, rather than becoming a
multi-national corporation.
